It's mid-October, and Big-10 football-style rain swept through the Midwest last evening. It caused a three-and-one-half hour delay in the Cardinals' 3-1 win over San Francisco, which means that only the most die-hard of fans hung around for the end of that one. (I made it through one episode of "The Big Bang Theory," and one episode of "Ben and Kate," but I gave up after that. The decline of the traditional sitcom is one of the worst things about the 21st century.)
The rain also washed out the Tigers/Yankees elimination game altogether. Of course, this gives sports radio stations another day to talk about whether the Yankees should or will trade Alex Rodriguez, so the day was not a total loss.
