J.B. Holmes Update

At the Deustche Bank Championship near Boston, J.B. Holmes shot 72+69+69+71=281 to finish at 3 under par, in a tie for 39th place. Holmes picked up $34,400, giving him a total of $1,117,010 for the year. He is currently in 52d place in the FedEx Cup Standings, meaning that he qualifies for this week's Western Open, which is being held at Crooked Stick Golf Club, in Carmel, Indiana. (You will find press accounts referring to this tournament as the BMW Championship, but the old name -- the Western Open -- was one of the best names of any golf tournament, and I'm not going to give it up.) Holmes will need a very strong performance in Indiana to qualify for the Tour Championship in Atlanta, as only the top 30 players in the FedEx Standings are eligible.
