This album caught me completely off guard. It's energetic, angry, loud, fast, it's wonderful. It's the best Bob Mould I've heard in a long time and in fact it's the best alternative rock I've heard in a long time. This all coming from a guy who is 50 years old.
If you grew up in the 80's and early 90's and you liked the grunge sound, that sound owes a lot to Mould's band Husker Du. You can't overstate how influential they were to the music that sprang up in the early 90's. Well if you grew up in that time and you liked that music and you never knew of Bob Mould or Sugar (Mould's other band) or Husker Du then give this album a listen and I think you'll be happy you did.
As I said in many ways Mould was the father of the sound that swept the airwaves in the early 90's and it's refreshing to hear him taking it on again in 2012 with so much energy.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 3 out of 5 stars for Pretty Good.
Hooray! This is the best song not on the latest Foo Fighters record.
