Hooray for football!
ReplyDeleteIf I could go to any of these games, I would watch Russellville play Trigg County.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a good one. I would go to Heath-Ballard.
DeleteI've changed my mind. I would actually go watch Mayfield play Warren Central.
DeleteHenderson County and Evansville Reitz (for whom my oldest sibling played defensive back) have become annual, opening-Friday rivals.
ReplyDeleteMurray-wise, I love the big "TEAM" across the jersey.
ReplyDeletePer Allen County-Scottsville, Zach Greenwell of The Daily News in Bowling Green writes, "After winning 33 games over three seasons, culminating with 2010’s state runner-up finish, the Patriots battled through a 4-7 campaign last year."
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Trinity, from Fort Campbell.

A glorious, 587-frame flipbook of Fort Campbell's come-from-behind, double-overtime victory at Clarksville, Tenn. This is five minutes of happiness right here. Five stars, highly recommended.
DeleteYeahh!!!
DeleteWasn't that awesome? If every KHSAA football game was documented with 587 freely accessible photographs in sequence, we would be a big step closer to realizing the Kingdom on Earth.
DeleteTop-four night for Brad Lawson, Calloway County's new, 1-0 coach.
ReplyDeleteClass A statement win for Harlan over Pikeville.
ReplyDelete"A strong fourth quarter sealed a season opening win for the Russellville Panthers at Rhea Stadium. Leading 7-6 after three quarters, the Panthers beat Trigg County 25-14. You can hear the game on WRUS at 2:05 Saturday."
ReplyDeleteI love Russellville (where my parents married). I love Rhea Stadium, and I love WRUS.
DeleteHenderson County seized a 23-21 lead against Reitz by recovering an onside kick to open the second half and then converting a 41-yard field goal, but the Evansville team rallied.

Western Kentucky's top player is 0-1.
ReplyDeleteYes, but, more importantly, is his mom the Mrs. Ousley who was my and Matthew's fantastic fifth-grade, mid-year-replacement teacher at Concord Elementary in 1978-79?
ReplyDeleteA few notes about Channel 6's first, excellent edition of "Gridiron Glory:"
ReplyDelete-- The Ballard Memorial Bomber-memorial wall is one of the all-time-western-Kentucky things.
-- The Lone Oak "Beat Tilghman" locker-room countdown clock is another of the all-time-western-Kentucky things.
-- Fulton County and Fulton City do get credit for fantastic uniforms, the best of those we saw in action Friday night in this episode (followed in order by Caldwell County, Ballard Memorial, Calloway County, Reidland, Heath and Murray). Also, it should be noted that Kentucky high schools' uniforms are so much better than Tennessee's.
Lone Oak did not beat Tilghman, and now they never will.
DeleteSomeday there will be so many people in McCracken County that they will need a new high school in the southern part of the county. When that high school is built, it should be called Lone Oak.
DeleteThe story behind tonight's T.J. Samson Health Care Career Bowl in Glasgow.
ReplyDeleteThe T.J. in pictures.
DeleteThose were some great uniforms.
DeleteHighlands came back from 21-8 down against Boyle County.
ReplyDeleteOhio County's coach was ejected after a scuffle last night.
