If Usher were 26 years old I could understand this album a bit better. It's essentially a collection of songs about picking up women in clubs and having sex. At 34 that just seems a bit sad and immature. If he wanted to make an album about sexuality then there are plenty of classic examples out there for templates, look to Marvin Gaye, but this is a bit on the embarrassing side.
Usher is a big time star and so it has some moments that would work for a workout mix or other, but even on the more serious songs and performances like "Climax" you see the limitations of this album. The lyrics simply scratch the surface of an emotional topic like a couple who has already reached the best part of their relationship and are now on the way down. What a song like this makes you wish for from Usher is a serious album about relationships and being 30 something rather than song after song of picking up women in clubs.
Usher, Jennifer Hudson, etc. There are artists out here with real talent as performers who need to find a writer and a producer who can push them and bring out the best in them. There is no Elton John if he never teams up with Bernie Taupin.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK.
I don't usually do this, but the video for the song "Climax" is a great example of what is so wrong with this album. You could easily have made a smart mature video for this song, but instead you get this weird video that makes you wonder if the people making it even listened to the lyrics and understand what the song is about. Heck you wonder if Usher understands what the song is about since he's in the video.
