Their 2010 album One Life Stand had one of my favorite songs of that year and one of my wife's favorite songs in forever with the song "Alley Cats." So I was excited for this new album.
It took about 10 listens before the album finally clicked for me. I put the album on at around 5am one morning while out playing golf and for some reason that listen worked, where all the others up to that point had left me feeling a bit blah.
This is electropop music but there is a certain flatness (as in b flat) to the sound of the album that can feel a bit harsh initially. Once you adjust to it suddenly the album comes alive.
Still there are no stand out songs on here and because it took so long for me to warm up to it it's hard to give it high praise. Obviously if you're looking for an album to listen to at 5am while playing golf in 50 degree weather this is the place to go.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.
