Every four years, the nations of Europe play their own mini-version of the World Cup, gathering to determine the soccer kings of that continent. This year's version is being hosted by Poland and Ukraine, the first time the European championship has been held that far east.
We won't have much to say about this until we get to the knock-out stages. But here are your 16 competitors and the four groups in which they will compete. I will be rooting for England and Poland (once again, Wales failed to qualify for the finals):
GROUP A:
Poland, Greece, Russia, Czech Republic
GROUP B:
Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Portugal
GROUP C:
Spain, Italy, Ireland, Croatia
GROUP D:
Ukraine, Sweden, France, England
Poland and Greece tied 1-1.
ReplyDeleteIn a rematch from 1968, Russia is taking on the Czech Republic.
