Just a quick note that Viswanathan Anand of India, the World Chess Champion, is about to defend his title in a match against Boris Gefland of Israel. The match is taking place in Moscow, Russia. We will be tracking the match, but
here's a preview for you.
The Twitter desk is now following, "quite simply, the greatest sportsman India has ever produced."
ReplyDeleteHe's been the undisputed world champion since 2007.
ReplyDeleteThere's that one series of moves that a player can make at the beginning of a game ... you bring out a bishop, and you pin the other player's queen, I think ... anyway, whenever I played chess with my brother, I'd lose by that series of moves about once every fourth game. I'm an awful, awful chess player, but I love looking at the pieces.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Gefland will try your brother's tactic when he plays Anand. Anand probably hasn't seen that one in awhile.
