College Baseball Update

Here were yesterday's results at the SEC Tournament:

Mississippi 2, Arkansas 0 (Arkansas eliminated)
Mississippi St. 3, LSU 2
Auburn 3, Georgia 2 (Georgia eliminated)
Vanderbilt 3, S. Carolina 2

This sets up today's games, which are as follows:

Mississippi v. LSU (elimination game)
Mississippi St. v. Kentucky
Auburn v. S. Carolina (elimination game)
Vanderbilt v. Florida

In the Sun Belt, Western plays an elimination game against South Alabama at 7 P.M CDT. In the OVC, Eastern Kentucky plays Eastern Illinois, while Morehead State has an elimination game against Jacksonville State. And in the Big East, Louisville will play Connecticut.

  1. There's been an offensive explosion in Hoover, Alabama, as LSU has scored two runs in the top of the first of their elimination game with Ole Miss. The Tigers lead 2-0.

  2. To be fair, I should say that I much prefer the type of scores we are seeing in college baseball now to the 22-14 debacles of a few years ago.

  9. In the OVC, Jacksonville State beats Morehead State 12-5, and the Eagles are eliminated from the OVC tournament. They become the second Kentucky team to be eliminated from the NCAA title hunt.

  10. In the Sun Belt Tournament in Bowling Green, Troy has beaten Florida International 6-1.

  11. Kentucky beat Mississippi State 5-1. So MSU now has to play an elimination game against LSU, and the winner of that game will play the Big Blue on Saturday for a trip to the SEC title game.

    This is a pitcher's park. This is the 11th game of the SEC baseball tournament, and there have only been four home runs.

  17. South Carolina beats Auburn 5-3. Auburn is eliminated.

    Meanwhile, in Bowling Green, Louisiana-Monroe and Florida Atlantic are still tied at 7 in the 13th.
