As Eric noted in "Oh, Kentucky," the UK Wildcats opened the SEC Tournament with a 2-0 victory over Ole Miss. The Cats play next on Thursday.
ReplyDeleteUp next: Arkansas v. Mississippi St.
The UK play-by-play announcer said one of the teams "you don't want to see in your bracket right now" is Vanderbilt.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I know a guy with a major provider of delicious, salty snack foods. He told me once that the thing about Pringles that has so vexed the rest of that industry's R&D was shape. He said all of their customer data said that a number of other products on the market could compete with Pringles on taste, nutritional impact, etc.; the big differentiator was that P&G (or whoever developed Pringles' fundamental patents) came up with a way to uniformly pack so many chips in a given container. Consequently, they were able to exploit that advantage in all kinds of ways like price per volume, volume of product per distribution truck, etc. I thought that was just fascinating.
I can see that. I love the shape of Pringles.
ReplyDeleteHere are three snacks that I have enjoyed more than almost anything I have ever eaten in a restaurant:
1. Pringles potato chips
2. Milk chocolate M & M's
3. Breyer's Vanilla Fudge Swirl ice cream
i'll tell you what, boy ... you set me up with some kfc original recipe and pringles, and ... well, that's a Mammy-take-me-to-the-box situation.
ReplyDeleteMSU jumps out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Heath beat Tilghman 6-1 yesterday in the 2d District Tournament Semi-Final. The Pirates take on Lone Oak at 6 PM today at Brooks Stadium for the 2d District Championship.
ReplyDeleteThe SEC's web page includes a "Fan Poll" that lets you vote on who you expect to win the SEC Tournament. The poll lists 8 of the 10 teams participating in the tournament -- but it doesn't list the number 4 seed, the UK Wildcats.
ReplyDeleteGoing into the top of the 8th, MSU leads Arkansas 3-1.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the Florida Gators' women's tennis team, which just won yet another national championship for the SEC.
ReplyDeleteMSU blows the game open with 6 runs in the top of the ninth, and beats Arkansas 9-1. MSU will play top-seeded LSU tomorrow, while Arkansas will face Ole Miss tomorrow in an elimination game.
ReplyDeleteOK, now it's time for the second session at the SEC tournament. Up first, Florida takes on Auburn.
ReplyDeleteFlorida scores two runs in the bottom of the 2d to jump out to an early 2-0 lead.
ReplyDeleteAuburn puts together an infield single, an error, a sacrifice bunt, and a sacrifice fly to score a run in the top of the 3d. Florida now leads 2-1.
ReplyDeleteFlorida blows the game open with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Gators lead 5-1 going into the 7th.
ReplyDeleteFlorida defeats Auburn 6-1.
ReplyDeleteThat's all for me tonight; I'm off to watch the Heat and the Pacers.
