I find this band interesting. First off they are a throwback to an old age as they are a boy band built through an audition process. Sounds so 90's doesn't it. Then to top that off these guys were formed in England and put out their first album in 2010. It has taken two albums and two years before they've reached the US shores with this album which collects songs off of their first two releases. That seems so 80's to me.
If you go into this with the knowledge that this is a boy band put together to produce light dance pop then you will get pretty much what you expect. I don't have any problem with that and actually found this album to be an enjoyable listen. Plenty of songs here to throw onto a workout mix.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.
Yes I just gave Jack White 1 star and The Wanted 2 stars. Makes you wonder about my album reviewing skills maybe. But to me a lot of music is all about expectations and what you find entertaining. I would be much more likely to throw on this album than the Jack White album. Also you don't expect much from these guys but simple, fun pop tunes and that's what you get. With Jack White you want something a bit more. Something that is going to make you think differently about music, the world, something. I didn't get that.
I don't wonder about your reviewing skills as much as I wonder how you decide which dance-pop songs go on your workout mixes and which ones go to your car-washing or house-cleaning mixes.
