Pennant Fever

Normally, once Manchester United gets into the lead this late in the year, the race for the English Premier League title is all over but the shouting. United stumbled in its most recent game, however, so what was an 8-point lead is now down to five. And United still has to visit Manchester City on April 30. But there are only five games left in the season, and I will be absolutely stunned if United doesn't take yet another title. Meanwhile, that race for fourth place -- and the last spot in next year's European Champions' League -- is going down to the wire:

1. Man Utd: 25-4-4 (79 points)
2. Man City: 23-5-5 (74 points)
3. Arsenal: 20-9-4 (64 points)
4. Spurs: 17-8-8 (59 points) (goal differential of 19)
5. Newcastle: 17-8-8 (59 points) (goal differential of 8)
6. Chelsea: 16-8-9 (57 points)

  1. What a shocker! Seventh-place Everton goes into Old Trafford and stuns United, holding the Red Devils to a 4-4 tie. United now has 80 points through 34 games, while City has 74 points through 33 games. If City can beat Wolves on the road today, they will only be three points behind.
