I don't have a budget from The Heath Post and I didn't want to spend my own money on Biophilia the iPad app, so I can't review this music as to how well it works with the app, and therefore as an artistic experiment. All I can do is rate it as an album.
As a Bjork album it is a bit of a change. It is less lavish in its production and slower. Her usual hooks have been thrown out and the album moves along at a slow deliberate pace. One reviewer said he thought of it as a soundtrack to a game and I can see that as it does feel like the songs are built to go with some visual medium that is missing. I would actually be quite curious to see the iPad app in action and maybe someday it will be free and I will.
As it is this is a quiet moody album, and I think you have to be a Bjork fan to enjoy it.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.
