Stand Up and Cheer Again

As Eric has already reported, the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers continued their miraculous run last night with a 68-63 come-from-behind victory over the Number 2-seed from Arkansas-Little Rock in the quarter-finals of the Sun Belt Tournament. In other Sun Belt action, the Number 1-seed (Middle Tennessee) lost to Arkansas State, 64-61; the Number 4-seed (Louisiana-Lafayette) lost to North Texas, 65-62; but the number 3-seed (Denver) beat South Alabama 61-50. This sets up tonight's semi-finals in Hot Springs, Arkansas:

6 P.M. (C.S.T.): # 5 N. Texas (17-13) v. # 9 Arkansas St. (14-19)
8:30 P.M. (C.S.T.): # 3 Denver (22-8) v. # 7 W. Kentucky (13-18)

Since January 15, Western has gone from a ranking of 282 on Ken Pomeroy's system to 209. That's a lot of progress.

Even the folks at Hilltopper Haven -- normally home to the Nation's Angriest Fans -- are buzzing with happiness today.
