Farewell to the Colonels

In all the excitement of the last few days, we failed to mention that the Eastern Kentucky Colonels lost to SEMO in the OVC Tournament on Wednesday night, 75-65. The Colonels will not be going to the NCAA Tournament, meaning that they are the first of Kentucky's six D-1 programs to be eliminated from the title chase. EKU finished 7-9 in the OVC, and 16-16 overall. Ken Pomeroy ranks them as the 271st team in D-1. The high point of their season was probably a 73-68 win over Tennessee State on New Year's Eve, which left them 3-0 in the conference.
