Farewell to Bellarmine

The D-II National Championship game will be played in Kentucky on Saturday, but it will not be won by a team from Kentucky. Bellarmine's effort to defend its title failed in the Final Four, as the Knights were beaten by Montevallo of Alabama by the score of 79-72. Looking at the box score, I see that the Knights (29-4) shot only eight free throws, while Montevallo shot 29. But Montevallo also out-rebounded Bellarmine 43-28, so they must have been stronger than the Knights on the inside. Montevallo will play Western Washington for the title.
