Coach Cal Speaks
This is the most detailed interview I've seen from Cal all year. He covers a lot of issues, including his relationship with the media and the future of the NC2A. It's definitely worth reading.

Joe B. just told a great story about Rick Robey one night when Red Auerbach was in the stands at a UK game. Coach Hall said that, in pregame warmups, he looks up and sees Robey shooting from the top of the key.
ReplyDelete"The balls bouncing off the backboard and clanging off the front of the rim," Coach Hall said. "I said, 'What are you doing, Rick? You just play your game.'"
In the first minute of the game, the ball comes to Robey on the perimeter, and he immediately fires a long shot, "and I think the ball just about bounced off the backboard back over his head," Coach Hall says. "Within that first minute, I had him sitting on the bench next to me. I said, 'Rick, who are you going to play for tonight, me or Coach Auerbach?' Rick said, 'You, Coach.'
"He went back in and had a terrific game."
Apparently, Coach Auerbach was impressed.
