Murray, Western, Kentucky, and Louisville are all playing games of unbelievable intensity today. Fans for Murray, UK, and U of L will be devastated by defeat. Western fans will be happy whatever happens -- but a win today would be the stuff of legend. And the drama is exacerbated by the fact that the Murray, Western, and UK fan bases are all together in the City of Louisville -- along with any U of L fans who want to show up and root against UK.
Meanwhile, you've got eight high school fan bases nervously awaiting Sweet 16 action -- which makes things even more intense. If you're a person from Benton, for example, you have to get through huge tournament games for Murray State, Marshall County, and UK all in the same day.
I suppose a day like this was inevitable, given how well the Commonwealth's teams have been doing. But now that it's here, I can feel the tension all the way to Washington, D.C.
I was going to suggest that everyone in Kentucky take the day off and devote the whole day to sitting around and talking basketball. But my guess is that that's pretty much what they're doing anyway.
