I read one review of this album that took some shots at McCreery. I don't think that's fair. They bring this kid into a studio hand him 12 songs and tell him to sing them into a microphone. What do you expect? I think he gives about as good of a performance as you are going to get in that circumstance.
Coming out only months after McCreery won American Idol this is the ultimate example of just how polished the Nashville machine is. I don't think that should reflect poorly on McCreery at all. The fact that he could so quickly put out an album that went number one probably says more too his talent than against it.
All that being said it is a very canned album and that makes the listening experience very boring. The real test for McCreery now will be to see how much of himself comes out with his next album.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK.
