I am very happy that the Interior Department is going to fix a terrible, out-of-context quote on the Martin Luther King Memorial. Good for them.
Without getting into too much detail -- you can find that in the linked article -- the controversy grew out of one of King's greatest speeches, a 1968 sermon entitled "The Drum Major Instinct." Since Monday is Martin Luther King Day, this would be a good weekend to read (or hear) that sermon. You can find it here.
man, i love that.
ReplyDeletei should more frequently cheer on the preacher at my church. i'll bet that helps a lot.
I really like the phrase "Make it plain."
ReplyDeleteyeah, that would be a good start of a job description if you were chairing a pastor-search committee.
