Here is the top of the latest AP men's college basketball poll:
1. Syracuse: 17-0
2. Kentucky: 15-1
3. N. Carolina: 14-2
4. Baylor: 15-0
5. Ohio St: 15-2
6. Michigan St: 14-2
7. Indiana: 15-1
8. Duke: 13-2
9. Missouri: 14-1
10. Kansas: 12-3
11. Georgetown: 13-2
12. UNLV: 16-2
13. Michigan: 13-3
14. Louisville: 13-3
15. Murray St: 16-0
I don't remember ever seeing three teams from the Commonwealth ranked this high at the same time.
This is Murray State's highest ranking ever in the AP poll. The last time any OVC team was ranked this high was March 16, 1971, when Western was ranked number 7. Of course, the Hilltoppers went to the Final Four that year.
The Tops are at North Texas in Denton on Thursday and at Denver on Sunday, and then it's a week off before a game in Diddle against the same Arkansas-Little Rock whom GoHeath finally had to put down against UK last week. This could conceivably be the right recipe for a season turnaround for WKU--new coach comes in, team falls short in big comeback bid in front of largest home crowd of season, long roadtrip to re-orient themselves, ... We'll see.
ReplyDeleteFurthermore, I want to say that I am completely juiced about WKU under its new interim head coach, ex-Bremen High School Eagle Ray Harper. I like everything I read about him.
ReplyDeleteThe folks on HilltopperHaven are big Ray Harper fans. So I'm glad he's getting a chance.
