We haven't had much to say about Kentucky high school basketball so far, but it's about time to start focusing on the world's greatest high school competition. The Courier-Journal released its Litkenhous Ratings this week, and they are as Jefferson County-heavy as usual. I, for one, can hardly wait for a lot more discussion of Louisville Trinity:
1. Lou. Trinity: 10-2
2. Bullitt East: 11-2
3. Lou. Ballard: 8-5
4. Lou. Pleasure Ridge Park: 12-3
5. Scott Co: 9-3
6. Madison Cent: 12-0
7. Lou. Moore: 11-3
8. Lou. Butler: 7-5
9. Lou. Jeffersontown: 11-4
10. Lou. Eastern: 8-6
But of course, these rankings are largely irrelevant, because only two teams from Jefferson County can make the State Tournament. Here are the highest-ranked teams in each of the 16 regions:
1st Region: Marshall Co.
2d Region: Hopkinsville
3d Region: Ohio Co.
4th Region: Warren Cent.
5th Region: Bardstown
6th Region: Bullitt East
7th Region: Lou. Trinity
8th Region: S. Oldham
9th Region: Cov. Catholic
10th Region: Clark Co.
11th Region: Scott Co.
12th Region: Southwestern
13th Region: Clay Co.
14th Region: Knott Cent.
15th Region: Johnson Cent.
16th Region: Rowan Co.
Hey, excellent. I'm so glad you culled out the region-by-region leaders.
