HP SPECIAL REPORT: 19-0
This is a Heath Post special report ... Murray State's men's basketball team has improved to 19-0 with a come-from-behind, 66-60 victory at Morehead State tonight. The home-standing Eagles led by four with about eight minutes to go when one of their reserves, junior forward/center Kahlil Owens, fouled out. The Racers quickly seized the lead, only to lose it again when Morehead State completed a four-point possession. Frankly, it was hard to keep up with the action the rest of the way. The daughter and I were out driving around northern Hopkins County, dropping in on Sunday's visitors to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Madisonville. The Froggy 103.7 FM radio broadcast from Murray kept fading in and out with a nearby station that was playing a Black Crowes block. Furthermore, press row at Johnson Arena in Morehead lost power four times during the second half, according to Froggy's Neal Bradley, so the station was frequently playing a stock apology for "technical difficulties." Whatever, the Racers prevailed for what WPSD described as a "gutty, gutty win." No. 12 Murray State returns to action Saturday, with a game at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, which shockingly (to me) is apparently in both Division I and the Ohio Valley Conference.

Or, in other words, what GoHeath said.
ReplyDeleteI love it when something so big happens that we get a double post.
ReplyDeletePlenty of Murray State-Morehead State coverage today:
ReplyDelete-- Channel 6 with game highlights and deleted scenes from the Coach Prohm presser;
-- Murray Ledger & Times' Ricky Martin's noting that "the Eagles trapping, zone defense forced nine Murray State turnovers in the first eight minutes of the contest. Prohm didn’t call a timeout to rally his troops, however, electing to keep the veteran guards on the floor to tough out the early pressure," and
-- Pat Forde's comparison of Coach Prohm to Bill Hodges.
