Home teams listed first. Private teams in italics:
Mayfield 19 - 14 Beechwood
Hazard 57 - 35 Pikeville
As usual, Mayfield is the last Purchase team standing, as the Cardinals pick up their 29th win in a row. This was the toughest challenge for Mayfield since they beat Tilghman 23-20 on September 3, 2010.
Class 2A:
Murray 10 - 40 Glasgow
Cov. Holy Cross 48 - 14 Somerset (at Newport)
My guess is that the Class 2A championship was decided last week when Holy Cross knocked off Newport Central Catholic 24-21.
Class 3A:
Fort Campbell 8 - 36 Lou. Central
Garrard Co. 27 - 34 Belfry
My guess is that the Class 3A championship was decided when it was found that Louisville Central should be placed in Class 3A.
Class 4A:
Franklin-Simpson 20 - 15 Shelbyville (a.k.a. Martha Layne Collins)
Lex. Catholic 21 - 42 Ft. Thomas Highlands
It looks like Catholic was blown out, because they were. But this was the closest game Highlands has played against a Kentucky school since September 24th.
Class 5A:
Bowling Green 62 - 20 John Hardin
Anderson Co. 42 - 8 Somerset
Just another devastating performance by Bowling Green, especially given that Hardin was undefeated and hadn't really had a close game all year. Well, I guess that second part is still true.
Class 6A:
Lou. Butler 6 - 49 Lou. Trinity
Scott Co. 16 - 14 Boone Co.
At least Team Toyota gets a trip to Bowling Green.
“Of course it was pass interference,” Fort Mitchell Beechwood coach Noel Rash told The Paducah Sun's Joey Fosco about his team's final offensive down in its Class A semifinal loss at Mayfield last Friday.
ReplyDeleteAnd two things from Channel 6's "Gridiron Glory" ... One: Mayfield's Black Friday "blackout" was impressive. Two: If I were Glasgow, I would go with blue pants to go with those mostly white jerseys.
Fort Campbell coach Shawn Berner endorses your Class 3A confidence in Louisville Central.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to know the officiating in Mayfield hasn't changed since I was a kid.
