In this week's battle for the Unofficial College Football Championship, Clemson was down 35-17 in the third quarter to Maryland on the road, but the Tigers have roared back to take a 42-38 lead with 11 minutes to go.
On Oct. 19, 1974, Clemson gets a shot for the UCFC belt--against Duke, which beat Purdue, 16-14, on Oct. 5 to earn it and Army, 33-14, on Oct. 12 to keep it.
Clemson ultimately ran up a 56-45 win, to keep the UCFC for the fifth week in a row. Next week, they put the title on the line against North Carolina.
