Album Review: John Digweed Structures Two by Various Artist

This compilation was put together by John Digweed acting as both producer and editor.  The first two tracks on here, both over an hour long are mixes he's put together acting as producer.  The next 41 tracks are songs he's selected off of his label by various artists.

If you like ambience electronica then this is a good fit for you as this is Digweed's focus here.  This is over 7 hours worth of music and you can buy the album from Amazon for $9, so it's a cheap investment if this is the kind of music you are looking for.

It's not really my cup of tea, but it is very well put together and for the shear volume of music alone you have to give this album some credit.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.

  1. We were in Cracker Barrel the other night, and there was a little advertisement on our table for an Oak Ridge Boys record they were selling in the lobby for $11. Now I don't buy many new CDs because my immediate reflex is "too expensive." But I thought this was an interesting move by Cracker Barrel, because the Oak Ridge Boys ad was sitting right next to one for the Apple Streusel French Toast Breakfast, for $7.49. Compared so closely, I thought the CD kind of seemed like a bargain while the French toast ensemble seemed a little pricey.

I ended up getting a vegetable plate (fried okra, buttered carrots, fried apples and baked-potato upgrade). It was excellent. I did not buy the Oak Ridge Boys record.

  2. I've bought a couple of those Cracker Barrel CD's. But the main thing I buy at the Cracker Barrel is bottled Nu Grape -- which is otherwise not available in Northern Virginia.

  3. I like the candy and other snacks in the store--especially various chocolate-covered nuts. I also almost always look through the racks of DVDs of old TV shows.
