After years of reading articles from people who criticize college football because it won't adopt a playoff, last year I decided to turn the tables and start ranking the NFL teams based on the principles that govern the AP Poll. Last year, in my opinion, the HP Poll picked a more worthy champion (New England) than that crowned by the NFL's playoffs (Green Bay).
Anyway, the HP Poll is back. Here are the top 10 teams in the NFL after Week 1:
1. New England (1-0)
2. Green Bay (1-0)
3. Baltimore (1-0)
4. Philadelphia (1-0)
5. Chicago (1-0)
6. New York Jets (1-0)
7. New Orleans (0-1)
8. Houston (1-0)
9. San Diego (1-0)
10. Pittsburgh (0-1)
Here's my ballot:
ReplyDelete1. Green Bay Packers
2. Baltimore Ravens
3. Chicago Bears
4. New York Jets
5. New England Patriots
6. Philadelphia Eagles
7. Buffalo Bills
8. San Francisco 49ers
9. Houston Texans
10. Cincinnati Bengals
11. Detroit Lions
12. Oakland Raiders
13. Washington Redskins
14. Arizona Cardinals
15. San Diego Chargers
16. Jacksonville Jaguars
17T. Miami Dolphins and 15 other teams
But, upon further review, I'm going to go a different way with this.
ReplyDeleteHere's how, at this moment, I think things will play out after the regular season:
Bills win at Texans
Patriots win at Raiders
Lions lose at 49ers
Bears win at Saints
Bills lose at Ravens
Patriots lose at Jets
49ers lose at Packers
Bears win at Eagles
Jets lose at Ravens
Bears lose at Packers
Packers beat Ravens in Super Bowl
Chargers, Dolphins, Colts, Chiefs, Giants and Vikings change coaches.
Titans get first choice in 2012 draft.
I agree with the part about the Dolphins and Chargers changing coaches.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to think that Kansas City is tanking the season in an effort to get Andrew Luck.
of course, things have changed dramatically since saturday morning, and i'll be tacking on my how-i-think-things-will-play-out lark onto your hp-official top 10 at some point after tonight's action.
