Well, it looks as though we may get to see the Devil Rays in the post-season after all. The Team that Won't Die beat the Yankees 5-2 last night, while the Bosox fell to Baltimore 6-3. With two games to go, the American League Wild Card race looks like this:
Boston: 89-71
Tampa Bay: 89-71
Meanwhile, over in the National League, the fading Braves lost to Philadelphia 4-2. But the Cardinals, who only had to beat the worst team in baseball to catch Atlanta, somehow managed to lose to Houston -- which has already lost 100 games this year -- by the score of 5-4 in 10 innings. This leaves the National League Wild Card race as follows:
Atlanta: 89-71
St. Louis: 88-72
In other news, the Nats have now won 12 of their last 15 games. Last night they scored three runs in the top of the 9th to come from behind and beat the hated Marlins 6-4. The Nats are now 79-80, and their hope of finishing over .500 is still alive.
GO, NATS!
