EuroBasket!

In a low-scoring, cautious game, Russia edged Macedonia 63-61 to take Group F. Here were today's final Group matches:

Slovenia 67 - 60 Finland
Greece 73 - 60 Georgia
Russia 63 - 61 Macedonia

The Group F standings are as follows (top 4 advance to the quarter-finals):

Russia: 5-0 (10 points)
Macedonia: 4-1 (9 points)
Greece: 3-2 (8 points)
Slovenia: 2-3 (7 points)
Finland: 1-4 (6 points)
Georgia: 0-5 (5 points)

And that sets up the following quarter-final matches:

September 14:

Spain (1st in Group E) v. Slovenia (4th in Group F)
This should be an easy win for Spain

Macedonia (2d in Group F) v. Lithuania (3d in Group E)
I think the hosts from Lithuania win this one.

September 15:

France (2d in Group E) v. Greece (3d in Group F)
Greece is pretty good, but I think France is better.

Russia (1st in Group F) v. Serbia (4th in Group E)
Serbia has a great history and a lot of pride, but I think Russia wins here.

  1. You did a nice job on these predictions ... three-of-four, and you really can't be faulted for missing on Lithuania. You get to keep your Eurobasket-pundit credentials.
