The heavy favorite Tony Martin took the day, so Germany holds both the women's and the men's elite time trial gold. Martin has been the best time trialist all season and so it's fitting that he take the title and dethrone Fabian Cancellara as the worlds best time trialist. Cancellara had to settle for third as he lost a bit of time in a corner in the final kilometer.
American hopeful Taylor Phinney learned what it's like to ride at the top level of the sport only being able to muster the 15th best time. It's been a tough first pro season for Phinney who has struggled with injuries and illness. Maybe next year we'll get a better idea of what Phinney has to offer at the top level of the sport.

Taylor Phinney is from Boulder, Colo. I once stayed in a Best Western in Boulder for a few days. It was really nice.
