But if this season is any indication of things to come the French are coming back, the British are moving into the top tier, and the United States is sliding back along with Italy and Spain.
It should be no surprise then that the first two road races were won by Britain and France.
Lucy Garner started the day off by taking the Women's Junior gold medal, and then the French followed up with a one, two win at the Men's U23 race.
None of this is looking good for the US, though I believe two guys who would have qualified for our U23 men's team will be in the Elite men's race this weekend.
