One of the more fun movements in rock over the past few years has been the garage rock revival. I find this album from The Vaccines to be interesting because they are looking to many of the British bands that were part of the last garage rock revival in the mid 80's. You can hear influences from bands on the edge of the movement like The Farmer's Boys and The Railway Children, and so it gives this album a bit more pop flavor than some of the other garage rock fair as well as giving it a distinct British flair.
All in all it's a consistent album. It lacks having that one great song that you just can't walk away from, and that hurts the album a bit, but this is a good debut effort.
If you're named Eleanor you may especially enjoy the song "Under Your Thumb." A fun album for summer play.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.
"The Vaccines." Crazy kids with their crazy names. What's next?
