Album Review: Suck It and See by Arctic Monkeys

Suck It And SeeThe Arctic Monkeys' fourth album is a solid set of songs that Big Star or Big Country or Easterhouse Contenders or The Pixies, well you get the picture.  There is a reason why their debut album was the fastest selling album in British history, it's because these guys do such a good job of blending all of these jangle pop sounds together.  But unlike pure jangle pop bands Arctic Monkey have an edge to their sound that reminds one of other modern sounds like The White Stripes.  I guess in the end they are uniquely the Arctic Monkeys.

If you like the Arctic Monkeys there isn't any reason not to like this album.  If you are new to the Arctic Monkeys it's a good introduction to their sound as it has mellowed a bit over the years, natural aging.

This would be a good album to play while doing work around the house or on a day trip to the beach with friends.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.

  1. "Suck It and See"?

Everything is so in-your-face these days. I've seen two kids around Madisonville in the last couple of weeks with T-shirts that read, in giant, block letters, "WANNA LICK?"

We were at Target in Evansville last night, and I noticed in the young-men's section they had a rack of shirts called "Character Ts."
