Album Review: Ronnie Dunn by Ronnie Dunn

Ronnie Dunn
Brooks and Dunn represented the top tier of the stylized Nashville rock / country sound.  Ronnie Dunn on his first solo album continues in that trend.  The biggest problem with this album is that there isn't any one song on here that really grabs you.  For a pop album that's a big miss.

As I've made clear I'm not the biggest fan of this sound and so this album doesn't do a lot for me, but I'm thinking if you liked Brooks and Dunn then you'll like this album.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK.

  4. Eric, "Remind Me" was number 3 on this week's Top 30 Country Songs as reported by "The Highway," on XM Channel 59.

  5. it's obviously taking off on the strength of its recent hp buzz.

  6. Eric, you should try a song called "Old Alabama."

  7. Now I'll have to say that that song doesn't grab me so much. I'm turned off by that whole, red-state/blue-state cutting up of the world. (This story is the only break I've ever taken issue with Bob Griese, for example.) Also, Brad Paisley really, really makes this song sound like old Alabama.

But I do really like big "Remind Me" (Carrie Underwood is great in this song), though I would've had the two characters in the video talking to each other on cell phones while one is in a plane on an tarmac and the other is hustling in a van to get ungrateful teen-agers to Scottish-dancing and volleyball practices.

  8. Well, by the standards of country music Brad Paisley is practically a one-worlder. Here's an idea: Try "Welcome to the Future" or "American Saturday Night." Both of those songs are about lowering barriers.
