Oh, Kentucky

Kentucky vs. the Dominican Republic.

I didn't know about this big Russell Rice book. Thinking about Bill Ransdell and the 1984 Hall of Fame Bowl makes me wonder what happened to KHSAA football or UK football in relation to KHSAA football or something. And Pam Browning makes me want to think a lot more about UK women's hoops history. This UK Athletic Hall of Fame story is a treasure trove.

Tour de Leitchfield.

Per the USPS hit list ..., a rebuke, a remembrance, a related remembrance, a tactical argument against and a warning of ramifications.

Good news for the grandmothers and grandfathers of Loretto.

Who dissed whom?

Recalling President Nixon's visit to Hyden, McDonald's went to Etown to trial its de-supersizing.

The slideshow is best viewed to "Sandy."

Getting ready for football on Friday nights in Mayfield. It is ah-most here, after all. (Tilghman v. Reitz, by the way, pits my brothers' alma maters.)

As soon as this ohky posts, I will be creating a Google alert for "Will Russell" AND "Kentucky Wonders."

  1. Bear Bryant -- UK's most successful football coach -- quickly concluded that the Commonwealth didn't produce enough useful talent. He focused his recruiting efforts on Western Pennsylvania, and his teams were built around folks like Vito ("Babe") Parilli from Rochester, Pennsylvania; and George Blanda from Pittsburgh.

  3. Some numbers from yesterday's USA Today story about the USPS.

Since 2008 the USPS has cut 110,000 jobs and reduced costs by $11 billion.

The USPS still faces an $8 billion deficit this year.

The majority of post offices on the chopping block take in less that $27,500 a year in business.
