A former Calloway County High Laker is the preseason football player of the year for the Ohio Valley Conference. "Despite starting just six games, (Murray State junior Casey) Brockman went 213-for-320 for 2,442 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also rushed for 292 yards and seven touchdowns on 79 attempts. In his first start of the season against Missouri State, Brockman broke three school records by going 32-for-41 for 570 yards and 70 touchdowns. He also rushed for 16 yards and another score." The Heath Post was there!
The UIFL is hard to keep up with.
Back to school, County-style!
Incidentally, I felt certain that County's recently retired boys' hoops coach would end up being named that school's principal. (He wasn't.) I am surprised to see Trigg County's football coach become principal at that school--only given that the season is ah-most here. We wish nothing but love for both schools and both teams.
Kentucky in the Civil War, on stage.
A record-breaking day for Paducah, by more than 86 percent.
I do like those cases of Case knives.
The Ruth Hunt story ... When we lived in North Carolina, my wife and I usually planned to leave western Kentucky so that lunchtime arrived along about Mount Sterling. There's a Jerry's there where she would get the taco salad, and it has a little gift area where I would sometimes get grab some Ruth Hunt candy. Also, there's a convenience store nearby where we'd fill up with gasoline and six-packs of Ale-8-One for the eastern exit from the Commonwealth.
