Further remarks in the comments as necessary.
Phil Mickelson has played in the British Open 17 times, and has only finished in the top 10 once. He is off to his usual poor start, with a bogey on the first hole.
ReplyDeleteFowler, McIlroy, and Els were all in the same group, and I would not have picked Fowler to finish with the lowest score of those three. But Fowler and Dustin Johnson both look to be a bit more serious this week than they did at Congressional.

By the way, the temperature is in the 60s, the wind is blowing, the sky is filled with gray clouds, and we've had some rain. So it looks like the British Open is supposed to.
ReplyDeleteThe weather has been quite challenging for the last few hours, which is why no one has challenged Bjorn or Jimenez (they finished a long time ago). But the weather seems to be calming down, so we may start to see some lower scores.
