Best of the 80's: Stop Making Sense by Talking Heads

Stop Making Sense
Little did everyone know in 1984 that this album would mark the peak of the Talking Heads.  Sad to say the original 1984 soundtrack release was structured more as a greatest hits album than a pure reflection of the Heads live performance and so by the time a re-release came out 15 years later the band had already been disbanded for 11 years and had become an afterthought in mainstream America.

I've never been the biggest Talking Heads fan, but it seems a shame that the album that came out to represent the band at their peak wasn't even a pure reflection of their peak.  The point of all of this is to tell you that if you bought Stop Making Sense back in 1984 and were disappointed, then you may want to give the new edition a try.

A good album for driving around town late at night. This album currently sits at number 48 on the Best of the 80's list.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.

  1. It would seem like this band should be huge now among your post-punk people.
