Tiger Woods will miss the U.S. Open.
For a very long time, I've been waiting to see Tiger play at Congressional for the 2011 U.S. Open. I saw him play in the 1997 Open, and I figured this would probably be my last chance to see him in his prime. I didn't go to other tournaments he played in at Congressional because I knew I could see him this year. But now we're going to miss him -- which means my kids won't ever get to see him in a major. This was their only chance.
Of course, it's also really sad for Tiger. He had to be desperate to play here; the U.S. Open is extremely important to him, and he has hosted several tournaments at Congressional in recent years. If he can't play here, he must be in terrible shape.
This whole thing is very, very sad. He's only 35 years old, but I'm afraid he may never be truly healthy again.
