Well, that was a bit of an anti-climax. As Eric has reported, Central Hardin crushed Mercer County 21-2 in only four and one-half innings to capture the state title. After the exciting back-and-forth double-header in the semi-finals on Friday night, this was very different. Anyway, Central Hardin were much deserved winners; they had very little trouble throughout the tournament.
For the record, the KHSAA has organized the state baseball playoffs in a lot of different formats, but I think this version -- where the baseball playoffs work exactly like the basketball playoffs -- is really good.
I hope all the high school athletes in Kentucky have a great summer. And I'm excited that we're less than two months away from football season.
