There is something about this album that reminds me of the China Crisis album Diary of a Hollow Horse. The albums sound nothing alike, but they are both albums full of oddly structured, complex sounding pop songs, that are as much about atmosphere as melodies. Both sound a bit off putting on first listen, and both grow on you over time.
With each listen I enjoyed Burst Apart more than the time before as my mind grew comfortable with the song structure.
Perfect for taking walks on dreary rainy days, this album may taking a bit of warming up to, but it's worth it.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 3 out of 5 stars for Pretty Good.
So good to have you back on the mike.
ReplyDeleteTotally compelling song.
