As I suspected, the Heat who played Game 2 in Chicago looked nothing like the Heat that yawned their way through Game 1. These Heat played defense, and the Bulls were even less successful at running their offense than the Celtics had been.
Here's how it played out. The Heat jumped all over the Bulls at the beginning of the second half, and they eventually pulled out to a 67-56 lead toward the end of the third quarter. Then, much like the Roadrunner teasing Wile E. Coyote, they let the Bulls come back to tie the game at 73 with about 4 and half minutes left. Then, with the Chicago fans going nuts, and the Bulls seeming to have all of the momentum, Lebron James and Co. said "Beep! Beep!" and they were gone. James scored 9 of Miami's last 12 points, the Heat outscored the Bulls 12-2 down the stretch, and Miami romped home with a surprisingly easy 85-75 win.
Chicago has a good team, they are well-coached, and they play hard. They now have to win a game in Miami, and I have no doubt that they will give it a real go in Games 3 and 4. They might even win one if the Heat lose their focus again. But last night's game showed that when both teams go all-out, the Heat are just better.
