If you could buy this album without the music track it would be a sold album, as it is it feels like the voices were recorded, then a robot was brought in to put canned music in behind those vocals. There just isn't any connection between the emotion of the vocal performances and the mechanical nature of the music.
I have to say for me this really zaps the energy out of the album and makes it unenjoyable. Of course this is their country/gospel album recorded at a major studio in Nashville, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised at the formulaic, stale music given to these emotionally rich songs.
I just had to go there.
Anyhow if you want a gospel album to listen to while you make Sunday dinner this would work.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK.
Love the shot.
