Poem for Today

April Rain Song

Let the rain kiss you
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops
Let the rain sing you a lullaby

The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk
The rain makes running pools in the gutter
The rain plays a little sleep song on our roof at night

And I love the rain.

-- Langston Hughes

  1. As it's been raining here for four months, I'm ready for the sun.

  2. I've been watching this show called "The Killing" on AMC. It's set in Seattle, and it's a murder mystery, so every episode is simply drenched in rain. On the Internet, some folks from the Northwest have been complaining about how Hollywood overdoes the rain in that part of the world. But other people were like, no, that's pretty much what it's like.

But whatever it's like up there, we need rain down here. Plus the rain lets me breathe. So I think about this poem every spring.
