Best of the 80's: Misplaced Childhood by Marillion

Misplaced ChildhoodComing in at number 92 on the Best of the 80's list is this 1985 release from prog revivalists Marillion.  These guys were a bigger hit in Europe than the US and this was their most successful album.

If you like Genesis/Pink Floyd and more importantly Peter Gabriel solo stuff, then you might like this album.  Fish, the lead singer, is very much influenced by Gabriel as is the band and their sound.

This isn't a bad album and really surprised me with how solid the hooks are throughout.  Also they keep the songs pretty tight and revolving around Fish instead of long winded instrumental segments.

It really is the kind of album you probably should put on when you want to sit through the entire album.  It would be good probably to take a nap to.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.
