Best of the 70's: Rumours by Fleetwood Mac

RumoursIt's amazing that this album works at all.  First you have three different songwriters contributing.  Second you have one marriage falling apart, one couple falling apart, and another internal affair going on.

All of this tension seemed to fuel the songwriting and these guys managed to put their art ahead of everything long enough to make all of this work.  They managed to create the pop masterpiece of the 1970's and this 1977 album comes in at number 11 on the Best of the 70's list.

There are more critically acclaimed albums obviously ahead of this one, but nothing represents 1970's pop music better than this album.

It's a quick and easy 11 tracks and has aged very well, so it's a good listen anytime you want.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 4 out of 5 stars for Really Good.

  1. I was afraid this album would be too commercial for Matthew's tastes. I fully agree with the review. This is an excellent album that has held up really well.
