The number 1 album of the 1970's according to the Best of the 70's list is this 1973 release from Pink Floyd.
On Dark Side Pink Floyd did two things that made this album their big breakthrough. First they brought in a pop sense to construct songs like "Money" which could make it onto the radio. Second they took their orchestrated sound and added more layers and constructed the album to exist in its own world. One song leads to another and another and your swept into the album and pulled along. "Money" may have attracted you to the album and then when you put it on you could be pulled into this world of musical exploration.
For me this has never been an album that held much interest, but I have known plenty of people who consider this to be the greatest album of all time and so I can fully appreciate its place at number 1.
It can be a full body experience if you are willing to dive into this album, and it can also play as background music to a solo game of Risk. If you feel the need to own a Pink Floyd album, this is definitely the one to buy.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 3 out of 5 stars for Pretty Good.
Is there actually a solo version of Risk explained in the rules? Or did you just make it up? I never got into Risk, but I think that was only because I never had anyone really teach me to play in a plural setting so that I could then craft myself a solo version to play by myself in my room.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I made up my own version of playing solo.
