Album Review: Meyrin Fields EP by Broken Bells

Meyrin Fields EPAnything Danger Mouse does nowadays warrants attention and last year he and James Mercer, front man of The Shins, put out an album as Broken Bells to much interest.  Personally I didn't think it worked very well, it was as if we got the worst of both artists, but now they've quickly turned around and released this EP and I have to say it's much more interesting.

It's dreamy, noise pop at its best in many ways and works quite well.  Four songs are enough to give you a sense of what they can do and the direction they are moving in, if they choose to continue working together.  Danger Mouse it seems to me can't sit still on a project too long so it will be interesting to see if they flush out a full album or if this is all we get from them.

Good noise pop is always fun to take a shower to and get your day started on.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 3 out of 5 stars forPretty Good.

  1. The first CD I ever listened to was a John Cougar Mellencamp album that I played while I taking a shower. I was astonished at how rich it sounded.
