  2. OK, here's a little story about life as a dad in Northern Virginia. Once upon a time there was a dad who learned that his son had a major assignment due in his high school Spanish class. The assignment required the son to visit the National Museum of the American Indian in downtown Washington. Due to conflicts with work, school, and other requirements, the only possible way that this project could be fitted into the family schedule was if the dad agreed to take the son down to the museum at 10 AM EDT on Saturday, March 19 -- the exact same time the state semi-finals tipped off in Lexington.

So the dad did not get to listen to this game on WHOP. He didn't get to hear Eastern jump out to a 26-20 halftime lead. He didn't get to hear Eastern take a 34-28 lead into the last quarter. He didn't get to hear Christian's press force Eastern into 15 turnovers (County made only one turnover the whole game). He didn't hear Christan go on an 8-0 run to take the lead at 38-36 with 3:11 to go. And he didn't hear how Christian was up 44-43 with 25 seconds left, and how Eastern had two late shots that missed, and how CCHS tacked on a layup at the end to create the final 46-43 margin.

  3. By the time the dad got home from his errands, the UK-WVA game was tipping off, so the dad didn't get to hear Rowan make 10 of 20 three's and build a 48-33 lead with only 4:12 left in the fourth quarter. And he didn't get to hear how Bullitt East mounted a furious comeback -- helped by Rowan County's 1-8 performance at the line -- to get to within 50-46 with 16.1 seconds left. And he didn't get to hear BEHS miss a three pointer that would have cut the lead to one, or hear BEHS hit a three-pointer at the buzzer for the final 51-49 margin. But he thinks it sounds like a great game.

  4. My daughter, wife and I went to the zoo today. I was among the lemurs when I learned UK had held off West Virginia.
