Boys' done: Christian County High School coach Kerry Stovall visited The Joe B & Denny Show this morning and explained how he drew up the double-overtime-ending play Saturday night that brought the boys' basketball state championship to Hopkinsville. "Yeah, I drew it up," he told Joe B. "I gave it to 23 (Anthony Hickey) and told him to make a good decision. ... I'll not have another Anthony Hickey. He's a once-in-a-lifetime player for a coach. I have a son and daughter, and he's my son, too."
The early favorite for the first KHSAA boys' bowling champion is from Graves County HIgh.
My wife, daughter and I visited downtown Paducah last night, and it's as great as its hype. (Joplin, Mo., covets its charm.) Furthermore, on our way out of town, we ate at Rafferty's on Hinkleville Road before hopping back on I-24 and high-tailing home to Madisonville, and we concur with coaches Crum and Hall.
The Kentucky Bureau needs to take a full inventory of all the hoops still going on across the state. This is not it. But we do know that, tonight, the UK women play North Carolina and that Pikeville plays in the NAIA Division I men's semifinals. The Louisville women play in the second round Tuesday night. Bellarmine plays in the NCAA Division II men's Elite Eight on Wednesday.
Census bites: Kentucky is moving to its middle. Crestwood in Oldham County is Kentucky's fastest growing town. Bowling Green overtakes Owensboro for No. 3. Murray's booming, but Princeton is shrinking. The Radcliff mayor doubts reports of his town's decline. The Barren River Area Development District's African-American population is shifting. The commonwealth is becoming more Hispanic and Asian.
Happy birthday to my main man, Darius Miller (and Twitter)!

The Georgetown men are also in the NAIA Division I men's semifinals tonight.
